Sensei Tammy Littleford
Black Belt 2nd Dan

Tammy has been training in karate since 1990 and started in the Handsworth Wood area of Birmingham. However, after watching the National Championships at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham and seeing Sensei Ronnie Christopher win 1st place in Kumite, she was inspired.

Under the late Sensei Enoeda (8th Dan), she obtained her 1st and 2nd Dan Black Belt which she has held since 1997. After attaining her 2nd Dan she became a member and teacher for Ruach Karate Clubs under the guiance of Sensei Christopher of whom she says: "I have the pleasure of teaching and training with a true legend. To fight Sensei Christopher is an experience I will never forget. I have learnt so much from him and I still feel like a child in a candy shop in every class."

At green belt level, Sensei Tammy first got the taste for competition and came 1st in her very first regional Kata competition. Since then, as a black belt, she went on to win many more regional competitions and also competing at National level which gave her the opportunity to fight in Germany and Paris, which as a team, won 2nd place for Kumite.

Your Karate Training with Sensei Tammy Littleford
"My teaching style is to train, but to also enjoy it. I try to tailor my teaching to fit everyone's styles of learning by trying not to put too much pressure on the beginners, but upping the tempo as they go up the grades. I believe that learning something new and going to a new or different club is pressure in itself. In addition, I have found in my experience, people learn better and quicker when they are enjoying themselves.

I feel my biggest achievement has to be as a teacher; I have been teaching for over 11 years and still enjoy seeing one of my students passing there Kyu or Dan grades and even helping a student (Amy Beddard) get on the England Squad and becoming a teacher (Matt Cromwell). Even though I teach, I do feel that to be a good teacher it is essential to keep up with your own training. "

You can find Senei Tammy on the Sensei Rota for duty at most of the Ruach Karate Club Locations.
