How To Behave
While Doing Karate
Written by Ryan Munn Aged 8

We are very lucky in Ruach Karate Clubs in having friendly, approachable instructors and we should show respect to them.
Karate training begins and ends with courtesy which means that you should bow on entering or leaving the training area (dojo)

You should bow to Sensei ( your instructor/teacher) and to training partners during lessons as a mark of respect for each other

If you need to leave the lesson, put your hand up to attract Sensei's attention, on re-entering the dojo kneel and wait for Senei to ask you to rejoin the lesson, bow and take your place in the class.

Dont run around the dojo, across or through the class

You shouldn't talk during class as this stops others hearing Sensei's instructions

Listen to Sensei's instructions to keep you safe during training

Keep your karate suit (gi) clean and tidy

Enjoy your Karate and behave yourself so that others can enjoy their karate too
